Graduate assistantship in stream water quality

We are seeking a motivated, independent graduate student (MS or PhD) to work on a project related to water quality and microbial pollution in Wyoming streams. This project is a collaboration between aquatic ecologists, microbiologists, and local conservation districts that is intended to apply new methods to identify sources of E. coli and other bacterial pollutants in Wyoming waterways. The student will be based in Dr. Sarah Collins’ lab in the Department of Zoology and Physiology at the University of Wyoming and will be responsible for leading field surveys across Wyoming, including collection of water, sediment, and other food web compartments. The student will also collaborate with microbiologists in Dr. Bledar Bisha’s lab in the Department of Animal Science at the University of Wyoming to identify sources of bacterial pollution.

Qualifications: BS in biology, ecology, environmental science or related field. Experience with field sampling in freshwater environments and working in teams. Interest or experience in microbiology or genomics is preferred but not required.
