Alabama’s Macroinvertebrate Community Surveys
The EIS seeks to hire a freshwater macroinvertebrate taxonomist to support Clean Water Act programs. This is a permanent, full-time, benefits-eligible position based in Montgomery, Alabama.
As the aquatic biologists for the department, we provide technical expertise in aquatic ecosystems, interpretation and analysis of surface water quality monitoring data, and aquatic community data and assessments.
Summary of core responsibilities
Collect and identify macroinvertebrate samples from wadeable river and streams throughout Alabama; conduct surface water quality monitoring in wadeable streams and rivers statewide to support management decisions and to document trends in water quality.
Statewide travel is required. Most travel is conducted between March and October.
