Aquatic Environmental DNA Scientist

Jonah Ventures (jonahventures.com) is currently searching an aquatic environmental DNA associate scientist. Jonah Ventures performs next generation sequencing and quantitative PCR analyses on environmental DNA samples to help clients answer environmental questions.
Primary responsibility will to develop and support client relationships with academic research units, state and federal agencies, environmental consulting firms, and other profit/non-profit entities.
Candidate will preferably have knowledge of metabarcoding with next generation sequencing and quantitative PCR as well as aquatic bioassessment, taxonomic identification of aquatic organisms, and/or microbial source tracking.
Position responsibilities will include travel to regional, national, and international meetings as an exhibitor and/or presenter. Will also likely include leading seminars and webinars on environmental DNA, development of promotional materials, and assisting in managing social media and website content. Position has the potential to include conducting research on the development and application of aquatic eDNA methods. Additional responsibilities are likely to include developing estimates and billing, responding to RFPs, and contributing to writing grants. Work with clients may include developing sampling designs, writing reports, analyzing data. Beneficial software skills include R and R Markdown, working with SQL databases, and customer relations management software (CRMS).
The individual is expected to work independently and collaboratively. Position is preferred to be located in Boulder, CO but will consider remote work.
