Job Summary

The Department of Earth and Space Sciences at Columbus State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with a specialization in Atmospheric Science/Climatology to begin Fall 2021.

The Department of Earth and Space Sciences at Columbus State University is strongly interdisciplinary with degree in Astrophysics and Planetary Geology, Environmental Science, Geology and Secondary Education within the BS Earth and Space Sciences program, as well as degree tracks in Geoscience and Environmental Science within the MS Natural Science program. Earth and Space Sciences faculty have a strong tradition of incorporating both undergraduate and graduate students in faculty research.

Responsibilities

Candidates must demonstrate potential for research and effective teaching of university level courses. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research program, including mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and leading to publications in peer reviewed journals; assisting with academic advising; and contributing to the service of the university. Teaching responsibilities will include: introductory weather and/or environmental science courses, climatology and meteorology, as well as other undergraduate/graduate courses within their area of expertise. Candidates with interdisciplinary interests are preferred.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have an earned doctorate (ABD will be considered) in the broad field of Geosciences or Atmospheric Science prior to the start date of August 2021. Experience teaching at the baccalaureate level is desired.
