Data Analyst III or Senior Data Analyst — Suwannee River Water Management District
The Data Analyst III and Senior Data Analyst are professional positions that collect, compile, review, analyze, and interpret data, and develop procedures for maintaining and integrating the District’s environmental data. This includes automation of data processes, analysis and reporting routines, developing quality control procedures, and assessing data needs and formats.
Job Duties Include:
- Manages datasets, which may include hydrologic, agricultural, and water quality monitoring data.
- Manages the Hydstra database and data imports.
- Identifies, evaluates, and develops solutions for data management needs and processes required to support the work of other District offices.
- Supports and assists with review, quality control/quality assurance, and analyses of water resource data.
- Performs statistical analyses for broad datasets.
- Develops, implements, and monitors standard operating procedures for collection and management of monitoring and associated data.
- Constructs complex programmatic scripts for data analysis and maintenance, using Python and Perl programming languages.
- Actively participates in and supports field data collection and training.
- Assists with agriculture water use data compilation and reporting.
- Serves as a mission critical part of the District Incident Command Team to ensure data backup and response specific to river and rainfall information, database management, and data inquiries.
- Develops and manages contracts, task work assignments, and purchase orders of any amount.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
Data Analyst III
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in science or mathematics programs such as hydrology, a natural science, or engineering and three (3) years of professional experience in data collection, data processing, and/or data management; experience in water resource data management is preferred.
- A master's degree from an accredited college or university in science or mathematics programs such as hydrology, a natural science, or engineering can substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
- Professional experience in data collection, data processing, and/or data management can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education; water resource data management or data quality assurance experience is preferred.
- Working knowledge and experience with programming languages Python and Perl are required.
- Valid drivers’ license.
- Experience with Hydstra software and database management and ESRI/ArcGIS geodatabase analysis and management are preferred.
- Working knowledge and experience with R programming language and SAS analytical software are preferred.
- Experience analyzing extensive datasets using complex parametric and/or nonparametric statistical analyses is preferred.
Senior Data Analyst
- Same as the Data Analyst III PLUS one additional year of professional experience totaling at least four (4) years of professional experience in data collection, data processing, and/or data management; experience in water resource data management is preferred.
Salary Range
Data Analyst III (PG 113 $49,462.40 - $82,451.20); Senior Data Analyst (PG 114 $53,414.40 - $89,003.20) Starting salary will commensurate with selected candidate's competencies and qualifications.
