The Central Valley Water Board is hiring an Environmental Scientist in their Rancho Cordova (Sacramento) office. The Environmental Scientist will work on a project focused on protection of cultural uses of water by Native American Tribes. This position will focus on designating waterbodies for Tribal Beneficial Uses, established to take into account activities specific to Native American Tribes’ traditional and cultural uses of California’s waters. California Native American Tribes have potential for increased exposure to water pollutants due to greater ingestion of water, dermal exposure, ingestion of plants, and ingestion of fish and shellfish through tribal traditional and cultural practices and subsistence fishing. This position will work closely with Native American Tribes to establish greater water quality protection through the designation of waterbodies for Tribal Beneficial Uses.

The mission of the Central Valley Water Board is to preserve, enhance, and restore the quality of California’s water resources for the protection of the environment, public health, and all beneficial uses for the benefit of present and future generations.
