Grant Specialist position for Stream Ecology Research, Texas State University

One full-time (40-hour/wk) position is available starting March 1 in the Schwalb Stream Ecology Lab at Texas State University (https://streamecology.wp.txstate.edu/). Primary purpose is to assist with field and lab work for various ecological studies and sampling of native and invasive mussels and macroinvertebrates. Job duties also include assisting in zebra mussel monitoring including dive surveys, drafting reports in collaboration with others, and assisting in outreach activities.

A B.S. or M.S. degree in Biology or other science field is required at the time of employment. Applicants should address how they meet the required qualifications: Experience with scuba diving; comfortable working for long hours in the field, ability to operate large 4WD vehicles, ability to carry equipment in the field. experience using MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, ability to work alone with minimal supervision after training for the job. able to work well as a member of a large research team. ability to obtain a Texas boating license within first month of employment. Preference will be given to applicants with experience sampling in rivers and lakes; experience handling kayaks, motorboats; experience with sampling and identifying unionid freshwater mussels; experience with GIS; familiar with basic statistical analyses; excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent time management skills.
