Lab and Field Manager, WSU Global Change and Watershed Biochemistry Research Group, Vancouver Campus

Summary of Duties

The primary responsibility will be to manage the daily operations of a biogeochemistry laboratory. Duties include: active participation in all experiments (design, sample collection, sample preparation, and sample analysis), preparation of data for presentation and publication (statistical analysis, graphing, writing), maintaining daily lab operations (ordering supplies, scheduling experiments, monitoring controlled substances, enforcing safety procedures), providing training to all laboratory personnel (high school students, undergraduates, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and visiting scholars), and leading the work student researchers and other research assistants.
Required Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate related field of science or technology AND two years’ experience in a field applicable to the assignment, at least one year must include lead or supervisory experience. A Master’s Degree may be substituted for one year of required experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years experience working in an ecology or bio-geochemistry laboratory or equivalent education/experience.
  • Five (5) years experience as a research assistant working in a bio-geochemistry laboratory.
  • Two (2) years experience as a lab manager including ordering supplies and supervising others.
  • Authorship on at least two (2) peer-reviewed journal articles.
  • Proficiency using Excel, ArcMap, Sigmaplot, and Adobe Illustrator.

Salary
$4013-$5268/month and $48,156-63,216/year. Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.   

Work Location and Schedule
Hybrid work schedule and flexible scheduling may be an option after the initial training period.
