The Kinsman-Costello Nutrient Biogeochemistry Lab in the Department of Biological Sciences at Kent State University seeks a prospective Ph.D. student to begin in Fall 2022. Candidates who are curious about how wetland ecosystem hydrology shapes microbially mediated redox processes are particularly encouraged to apply. Graduate positions include guaranteed support in the form of a competitive stipend, full tuition waiver, benefits, and support for participation academic meetings. Research assistantships may be available, and support is available for the candidate to begin research activities in summer 2022 if the selected candidate is available. Ph.D. research project details will be shaped and defined by your specific interests as they intersect with the research goals of 1) a newly funded Department of Energy project investigating how fine-scale soil and sediment conditions shape whole-ecosystem wetland nutrient biogeochemistry or 2) projects assessing nutrient biogeochemistry in restored wetlands.
