Ph.D opportunity in Quantitative Freshwater Ecology

The Department of Biology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) offers graduate programs leading to the Master of Science (MS) in Biology and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Environmental Health Science degrees. The Aquatic Ecology Lab (https://aterui.github.io/aquaecolab/) at UNCG is dedicated to unraveling spatial processes that foster biodiversity in freshwater ecosystems.

We are actively seeking a prospective PhD student beginning in Fall 2024. Candidates intrigued by the large-scale modeling of aquatic-terrestrial connections, complex species associations, and/or the impacts of climate change on riverine communities are strongly encouraged to apply. Our research spans fieldwork, quantitative analysis of existing datasets (e.g., Bayesian statistical models), and mathematical modeling. Hence, we eagerly welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, valuing varied experiences and strengths. Proficiency in R programming is highly advantageous.

If this opportunity interests you, please reach out to me at a_terui@uncg.edu, enclosing (1) your resume detailing your prior experiences and (2) the names and contact information of three referees. The review of applications will begin immediately. The departmental priority deadline for graduate studies application is January 5, 2024. Successful applicants accepted into the program may be eligible for financial aid and tuition assistance in the form of teaching or research assistantships.
