PhD Research Assistantship: continental patterns of fish invasions

We are recruiting a PhD student to work in the lab of Dr. Brandon Peoples at Clemson University. We anticipate a negotiable start date between late spring and fall of 2021; a remote start is also possible.

Responsibilities: The student will work to investigate patterns of freshwater fish invasions across the United States using a combination of modeling, field and/or lab-based approaches. Exact study objectives and approaches are flexible, but lie at the nexus of conceptual and applied ecology. The start date is flexible (Late spring-fall 2021), and we will be happy to accommodate remote start if desired.

Required Qualifications:

• A master’s degree in ecology, biology, fisheries/aquatic science or equivalent

• Demonstrated excellence in written, verbal, and quantitative skills

Ideal candidates will have some combination of experience in:

• Community ecology

• Invasion ecology

• Study design

• Statistical analysis using R

• Working with large datasets
