Position Summary
The Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems at the University of Georgia is hiring a 1-year postdoc position, with possibility of renewal. The individual hired will work as part of an interdisciplinary team from the University of Georgia, the Tribal Nations Technical Center for Excellence (TNTCX), and the United States Army Corps of Engineers – Engineer Research and Development Center (USACE-ERDC). The project is part of the Network for Engineering with Nature’s (https://n-ewn.org/) People and Policies research theme. The postdoc will work with the broader team to co-develop and direct research related to social equity aspects of Nature-Based Solutions and water resources planning. The project focuses on enhancing equity in water resources planning and infrastructure through the development of tools, methods, and guidance that a) recognize inherent value in different perspectives and worldviews; b) consider different perspectives from a place of equality; c) translate perspectives for stakeholders and project planners in ways that build empathy; and d) incorporate diverse perspectives into the technical, procedural, and operational aspects of water resource and engineering decision making. The position will be co-supervised by Brian Bledsoe, Director, IRIS, and Professor, College of Engineering, and Don Nelson, Professor, Department of Anthropology.
