Summary:
The University of Michigan School for Environmental and Sustainability (SEAS) seeks outstanding candidates for a postdoctoral scholar position. The successful candidate will lead research in the field of hydrology with potential applications to hydrological modeling, forecasting, water resources management, and uncertainty assessment. Candidates with an interest in water quality modeling are also encouraged to apply. It is expected that the selected scholar will work with Dr. Andrew Gronewold at SEAS, with the potential for collaborating with scholars from different units across the University of Michigan (including Climate and Space Sciences and Engineering, Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Civil and Environmental Engineering), and with external colleagues at the National Center for Atmospheric Research.

successful candidate will be expected to publish in the peer-reviewed literature, present research results at scientific conferences, and assist in developing proposals for external funding.

The position offers a competitive salary, with full University of Michigan benefits, and funding for equipment and travel support.

Qualifications:
It is expected that candidates have competence in data intensive research with a focus on hydrological science, statistical analysis, and modeling. A PhD in hydrology, water resources, atmospheric sciences, or related field is expected. Candidates should have a solid record of scholarship and strong written and oral communication skills.

Qualifications:
Working knowledge with state-of-the-art hydrological models such as Noah-MP, WRF-Hydro, and VIC is desired. Candidates with a strong quantitative and statistical background with programming experience in R, Python, or Matlab are also preferred. Preference will also be given to candidates with a record of peer-reviewed publications and experience preparing grant proposals.
