The Great Lakes Center at SUNY Buffalo State seeks applications for a Researcher Scientist position funded through the Research Foundation for SUNY, working on the project “Great Lakes Long-term Biological Monitoring Program 2017-2022” funded by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency. This position involves excellent research opportunities in community, invasion, and benthic ecology and limnology using spatial and long-term data analyses. This project also provides extensive opportunities for collaboration with researchers and managers across the Great Lakes Region. Educational Requirements: Ph.D. in Ecology/Limnology or related fields. Required qualifications include strong skills in writing and ecological data analysis in R; experience in GIS analysis and digital mapping, spatial statistics, experience in remote sensing and image processing are desirable. Other desirable qualifications include skills in multivariate data analysis strong publication record, experience in successful grant writing and management, experience in taxonomic identification of benthic invertebrates, strong communication skills, and being a good team player. This position involves mandatory field work for 4-8 weeks each June-September on all Great Lakes aboard EPA’s Research Vessel “Lake Guardian” and smaller boats.
