The Central Valley Water Board is hiring a Senior Environmental Scientist Specialist in their Rancho Cordova (Sacramento) office. The Senior Environmental Scientist Specialist will work on projects focused on developing water quality control programs or other Board actions to address water quality impairments and to control pollutants contributing to degradation of water quality in the Central Valley region. The detailed information on specific responsibilities can be found on the duty statement in the vacancy announcement (see link below). General responsibilities are to conduct scientific analysis and assessments to identify factors contributing to water quality impairments, sources of pollutants, and controllable factors to determine potential actions needed to restore water quality; to represent the Central Valley Regional Water Board at meetings with local, state, and federal agencies, other interest groups, Native American Tribes and on various technical and interagency committees, and other internal and external meetings; to prepare and present written and oral presentations at public hearings, scientific conferences, meetings of the Central Valley Water Board, and other federal, state, and local agencies.
