The Water Quality and Aquatic Ecosystems Modeler position serves as a water resources modeler and technical consultant for the Water Quality Bureau. This is a highly technical position responsible for stressor-response modeling and statistical consultation, with a strategic focus on simulating impacts of pollution and other stressors on aquatic ecosystems, notably lakes. This position works in a small technical team, where individual roles and responsibilities may be adapted based on the distribution of skills and the needs of multiple concurrent projects. The Water Quality and Aquatic Ecosystems Modeler position coordinates and implements technical aspects of water quality modeling for the successful development, planning, and implementation of water quality management efforts such as Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) throughout the state. This position also provides scientific leadership in assessing ecological impacts of various stressors on Wisconsin waters and evaluating management solutions, adapting/applying ecological theory to these issues.
