SFS is dismayed by today's Supreme Court Ruling regarding Waters of the United States. The Court's decision means only wetlands with a "continuous surface connection to bodies that are 'waters of the United States’ in their own right, so that they are “indistinguishable” from those waters" will be protected. This leaves many adjacent wetlands, including floodplain wetlands, unprotected by the Clean Water Act. This decision is scientifically indefensible and will result in further loss of wetlands and water quality degradation at a time when we can ill afford either. 21-454 Sackett v. EPA (05/25/2023) (supremecourt.gov)"
