Job Summary: This is professional work performing data collection and data management functions and assisting project scientists in environmental restoration and environmental management projects.

Job duties include:
• Assist staff and take a leadership role in completing field work associated with ecological projects being conducted throughout the District. Work will vary depending on the strategic priorities of the District and
the Bureau. Duties include assisting with design of monitoring program, preparing equipment necessary to conduct fieldwork, driving trucks, boats, and airboats to access sampling areas, collecting/recording data,
and monitoring submersed aquatic vegetation.
• Assist with data analysis, conducting literature searches, technical writing and editing, contract management, preparing technical presentations, and drafting tables and figures for technical reports and publications.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in biology, limnology, chemistry, botany, zoology, or a field directly related to natural resource management and two years professional experience in the environmental field.
  • Professional experience as described above can substitute on a year- for-year basis for the required college education.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
Endure harsh outdoor environments in uncomfortable/extreme temperatures, inclement weather, and remote locations; lift and/or move equipment; operate or learn to operate vehicles/vessels to access sites (e.g. ATV, airboats, marsh masters, and four-wheel drive truck).

Expectations: Maintain a priority of safety, communicate and work well with others as a team, make effective, consistent, and defensible decisions in the field.
Licenses: Valid State of Florida Driver’s License.

Additional Details:
Salary Range: $46,696.00 - $58,364.80
Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
