Ecohydrology of Freshwater Ecosystems (Open Rank Faculty Position) — Texas State University

The College of Science and Engineering (CoSE) at Texas State University invites applications for an open rank tenured or tenure track faculty position in the Department of Biology (https://www.bio.txst.edu/) specializing in linking hydrology or hydraulics to the ecology and biology of freshwater ecosystems that will complement the strengths of our 50-member faculty. The successful candidate will establish and maintain a vigorous externally funded research program involving students, teach courses in their area of expertise, and participate in university-wide research initiatives. Collaboration with other CoSE departments and centers, including Civil and Environmental Engineering, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Agricultural Sciences and the Edwards Aquifer Research and Data Center, is encouraged and expected. Additional opportunities for collaboration outside CoSE include the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies and the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment.

Texas State University is located in central Texas, a regional center for aquatic and hydrogeological research. Graduate programs in CoSE include PhD programs in Aquatic Resources and Integrative Biology, Integrative Molecular and Biophysical Chemistry, and Civil Engineering, as well as master’s programs in Biology, Aquatic Resources, Population and Conservation Biology, Wildlife Ecology, and Integrated Agricultural Sciences. The university is located between the San Antonio and Austin metropolitan areas and is situated at the edge of the Edwards Plateau ecoregion, a karst ecosystem and hotspot for research on surface water–groundwater interactions with numerous endemic and protected aquatic species.
