The Odum School of Ecology (OSE) at the University of Georgia invites applications from outstanding early-career scientists for a Research & Teaching Postdoctoral associate to begin between July 1, 2022 and August 1, 2022. The successful applicant will pursue research in their area of expertise or pedagogical research while teaching classes at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels. Instructional activities include contributing to existing core courses and mentoring students in directed research. In the fall semester, the appointee will teach a moderately sized section of Introductory Ecology. In the spring semester, the appointee will teach a small enrollment research methods course. Materials are available for both courses, although the appointee is welcome to make modifications. The research methods course can be taught using the appointee’s area of expertise as a case study, using existing data (e.g. NEON), or in any other suitable manner. Instruction in the second year could be similar or a special topics course could be substituted for one of the original courses at the appointee’s option.

We seek candidates with a PhD in Ecology or related field, and with outstanding potential in research and teaching, who can contribute to the inclusive teaching and research missions of the OSE community. The appointment is accompanied by an annual research and travel budget of $2000. For more information on the Odum School and our academic programs, please see our website: www.ecology.uga.edu. The appointee will be assigned a teaching and research mentor from among the OSE faculty.

To apply, candidates should submit in a single PDF file a (I) cover letter that describes teaching interests, proposed teaching activities and career goals, (II) curriculum vitae, (III) 1-page statement of research interests, and (IV) contact information for 3 professional references. Materials should be submitted through https://www.ugajobsearch.com/postings/242685. Award decisions will consider the applicant’s credentials, the novelty and impact of the research program, and the teaching and mentoring experience and goals. Projects promoting synergy across multiple labs are encouraged.

Applications must be received by Feb 21 to ensure full consideration, with an anticipated start date August 2022. Questions should be directed to Dr. Nina Wurzburger, ninawurz@uga.edu.
