Annual Events
Every year SRC members develop and conduct a workshop for SFS members; however, priority is given to undergraduate and graduate students. Workshops are focused on professional development and/or topics in aquatic ecology that are specific to the conference location.
Typically, lunch and any transportation costs are included in the workshop fee. SFS members can sign up for the workshop as part of the conference registration.
SRC Committee Meeting & Lunch
All graduate students interested in becoming SRC delegates and/or officers are invited to attend the annual SRC lunch. This lunch is a great opportunity to learn about ongoing and new SRC activities, elect new SRC officers, and meet other SFS undergraduate and graduate students.

SRC Workshop

SRC Student-Mentor Mixer
The SRC Student-Mentor Mixer is designed to facilitate interactions between students and experienced professionals in the field of freshwater science. Mentors may include professors, research associates, post-doctoral researchers, government employees, and private consultants. This mixer is open to all undergraduate students, graduate students, and post docs; however, registration is required. The SRC Student-Mentor Mixer provides students with the opportunity to make connections with professionals who share similar interests, gain insight into future career opportunities, and receive valuable advice on navigating through the scientific research process. Mixers provide students a great opportunity to network and engage in lively conversation with mentors and peers in a relaxed environment. This event has been very successful and beneficial to students in the past.
The planning committee requests students register online with their conference registration so that we can effectively group students and mentors and provide students with a drink ticket specific to this event. If professionals would like to serve as mentors for this event, please sign up via the conference registration page or email the Student-Mentor Mixer Committee at nabs.student.mentor.mixer@gmail.com.
Auctions
All funds raised from the live and silent auctions go to the SFS Endowment, which serves as the source for research and travel awards presented to SFS student members.
Silent Auction
Silent auction books and bidding sheets will be displayed on tables at a central location during annual SFS conferences.
If you have recently published a book and would like to contribute to this year's auction please contact us via e-mail or bring your book to the meeting. If you are a graduate student and plan on attending this year's meeting, we would like to challenge you to bring a book from your university or region, or maybe even from your favorite publishing professor.
